3D Media Annotation
Use the 3D annotation tools to add 3D content and export embedded 3D data. The add 3D tool allows you to designate an area within the PDF to add 3D annotation to the page. The embedded 3D data file can also be exported if you wish to view in a separate application.
NOTE: PDF Studio has limited support for 3D objects stored in PDFs. 3D content can be added to the page but cannot be viewed from within PDF Studio. To view the file first export then view in a compatible 3D application.
How to Add 3D Annotations
- Select the Add 3D tool in the Comments Tab on the toolbar
- Click and drag to select the area that you wish to add the 3D annotation (Note: Hold the Shift key while drawing to create a perfect square.)
- After the 3D annotation is added, the 3D Properties dialog is displayed.
- Set the options for the 3D annotation:
- File: the path to the 3d file (only .prc & .u3d files are currently supported)
- Image: a placeholder image to be shown when the PDF viewer does not support full 3D rendering
- Icon: When checked will display a default 3D icon for the placeholder image (disabled when an image is file is set)
- Border Width: creates a small border around the 3D annotation object
- Border Color: color of the border
- Once complete, click OK to finish adding the 3D annotation to the page
3D Annotation Properties
At this time, 3D annotation properties are not supported. To edit any of the above settings set when creating the 3D annotation you will need to first delete the 3D annotation and then create new one.
Exporting Embedded 3D Data
3D data embedded within the annotations can be exported to view in another 3D application.
- Using the Hand Tool or Object Selection Tool Select the 3D media that you wish to export.
- Right click (Mac: Ctrl + Click) and select the Export option
- Choose where to save the file and click OK
