Case Study Darwin-IT: Viewing PDF invoice in Oracle
Displays Invoices in Oracle Forms Workflow Process
Company Profile
Darwin IT-Professionals, founded in 2005, is an Oracle Specialized Partner in the Netherlands (just outside Amsterdam). Darwin-IT’s consulting practice builds on Oracle technology with a focus on middleware, application development and integration issues. Their customer in this case is a company who enables management of HOAs (Home Owners Associations) with their software and services.
The Technical Challenges
Darwin-IT’s customer needed a workflow application to capture relevant information into Oracle Forms while reliably viewing the original invoice within a single browser session. The consultant needed to find a reliable and fast way to display PDF invoices within Oracle Forms from reception through routing and information collection.
The Solution
The Darwin-IT consultant built a SAAS solution workflow process that is accessed across the internet. Darwin-IT’s solution enables the customer to display the invoice in jPDFViewer while working in an Oracle Form. Once relevant information is filled in, the invoice is routed through the organization, with this same Java PDF component providing visual access to the invoice at several locations. After an unsuccessful attempt with another Java library, the consulting firm was relieved to find Qoppa’s PDF viewer for Oracle Forms for this critical part of the application. Designed for deployment in a browser environment, jPDFViewer was also chosen because it is quick and reliable.
The Benefits
“In the first six months after the project went live, 60,000 invoices have been scanned and Qoppa’s Java Bean jPDFViewer has been used around 150,000 times. The customers were overwhelmingly pleased with both the speed and the capabilities of the Java reader, particularly appreciating the loupe tool for magnification of document details.” says the Darwin IT-Professionals consultant. “Another added benefit was the ability for the menus and user interface messages to be translated into Dutch.“
